Event Coordinator
Position Type: Part-time; Approximately 20 hours per week (hours may vary)
Salary: $21-25 per hour commensurate with experience
Overview
Kennett Collaborative, a nonprofit organization, is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Event Coordinator who will be responsible for recruiting volunteers, forming committees for various events, planning committee meetings, delegating tasks, and ensuring the timely completion of assignments. Key events include the esteemed Kennett Brewfest and Winterfest, some of the largest and most popular craft beer festivals in the region. The Event Coordinator will also oversee the customer service email inbox, ensuring prompt and helpful responses to community inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Volunteer Recruitment: Develop effective strategies to attract and recruit volunteers from the community, leveraging social media, outreach events, and partnerships to build a strong volunteer base.
- Committee Formation: Establish and nurture committees for specific programs and events, ensuring each group has the necessary skills and diversity to contribute to the success of the initiatives.
- Committee Meetings: Plan and organize committee meetings, setting agendas, scheduling meeting times, and ensuring productive discussions that lead to actionable plans.
- Task Delegation: Delegate responsibilities and tasks to committee members, providing clear instructions and support to ensure their success. Regularly follow up to monitor progress, address challenges, and ensure tasks are completed on time.
- Event Schedules: Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.
- Customer Service Oversight: Manage the customer service email inbox, promptly responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and forwarding urgent matters to the appropriate personnel.
- Volunteer Recognition: Implement recognition and appreciation programs to acknowledge the valuable contributions of volunteers and foster a positive and engaged volunteer community.
Qualifications
- Proven track record in coordinating volunteers, committees, or similar teams in a nonprofit or community-based setting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with volunteers, committee members, and community members with empathy and professionalism.
- Detail-oriented and capable of tracking progress, ensuring accountability, and meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in using technology and software to manage volunteer databases, email communication, and reporting.
- Passion for community development and a desire to make a positive impact through fostering volunteer engagement.
- Strong preference for candidates who are fluent in English and Spanish.
