The Brandywine Valley Chorale (BVC), a beloved fixture in the region’s cultural landscape, is ushering in a new chapter under the artistic leadership of Dr. Nathan Reiff, a distinguished conductor and educator.

Founded in 2007 by local musicians and arts advocates, the BVC has grown into one of the Brandywine Valley’s premier community ensembles. Based in Kennett Square, it draws singers from across the region—including West Chester, Unionville, and Wilmington. With over 70 auditioned adult members, the BVC performs a broad spectrum of repertoire, from classical masterworks to contemporary choral music.

At the heart of the BVC’s mission is a commitment to musical excellence and community connection. The ensemble regularly collaborates with guest soloists, instrumentalists, and partner choruses. Concerts are typically presented twice a year, each a highlight of the local arts calendar.

Upcoming Performances:

Holiday Concert: December 6, 2025 at 7:30 PM
The BVC’s 2025 Holiday Concert will feature the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah, including the timeless Hallelujah Chorus. The event will also include a festive carol sing-along, backed by full chorus and orchestra. The concert takes place at Unionville High School.

Spring Concert: May 2, 2026
Building on its tradition of meaningful collaborations, the BVC recently performed Mozart’s Requiem with the Chester County Choral Society and Unionville High School Chamber Choir. Looking ahead to May 2026, the Chorale will present works by acclaimed living composers Jake Runestad, John Corigliano, and Elaine Hagenberg.

With the recent relocation of founding artistic director Jason Throne to Maine, the BVC undertook a nationwide search for new leadership. The Chorale is thrilled to announce Dr. Nathan Reiff as its new Artistic Director.

Dr. Reiff brings a wealth of experience to the role. He is currently Director of Choirs at Swarthmore College, where he leads both the Chorus and Garnet Singers and teaches conducting and musicianship. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from the Yale School of Music.
Known for his dynamic and inclusive leadership style, Dr. Reiff has served on the faculties of the Harvard Glee Club, the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and the community ensemble JourneySongs. He is also a founding co-director of Cambridge Common Voices, a pioneering neurodiverse choir in Massachusetts. His approach blends academic rigor with deep musical expressivity and a passion for community engagement.

Join the Chorale! The Brandywine Valley Chorale is always seeking new voices to join its vibrant musical community. Auditions are held in early September and January, with rehearsals on Tuesday evenings from 7:30–9:30 PM at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Unionville.
