Three groups are joining forces to help fight hunger and strengthen our community this season through a special partnership with Kennett Collaborative, Kennett Area Community Service (KACS) and United Way of Southern Chester County (UWSCC). Together, these organizations are offering support to local families.

On November 7 and November 14, from 3:00–5:30 p.m the Kennett Square Farmers Market will host a Food Drive benefiting KACS. Community members are invited to bring non-perishable food donations—or purchase fresh, local items directly from market vendors—to help neighbors in need. This effort not only provides essential food to families facing hardship but also supports the farmers and small businesses that make our community thrive.

Ros Fenton, Kennett Collaborative’s Community Programs Manager shared, “Nourishing the local community is at the heart of KSQ Farmers Market’s mission, and the longstanding partnership we have with KACS is an important piece of that. We welcome the opportunity to work with both KACS and United Way for an expanded food drive at a time when so many neighbors are in critical need.”

To add to the fun, market visitors who make a donation on either date will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a special gift basket filled with local items from market vendors. The winning ticket will be drawn on November 14.

With the community’s need rising, every contribution makes a difference. The most needed items include:

  • 1–2 lb. bags of white rice
  • 1–2 lb. bags of dried pinto or black beans
  • Small-shaped pastas

In addition to shelf-stable items, KACS will also accept fresh local produce purchased from the Market vendors — helping ensure that every family has access to healthy, nutritious food.

The KACS truck and information table will be on site both days, alongside representatives from UWSCC and the KSQ Farmers Market, sharing information about local programs and resources that address hunger and strengthen the Southern Chester County community.

“Together, we can make sure no one in Southern Chester County goes hungry this season. Bring a bag, share some kindness, and help KACS stock the shelves for neighbors in need. Thank you for helping to strengthen our community!” said Kecia Crowl KACS Communications & Engagement Director.

UWSCC’s CEO, Darcie Martin commented, “KACS is such an amazing community partner and is dedicated to making sure that no neighbor goes hungry. The United Way of Southern Chester County is thrilled to partner with KACS, Kennett Collaborative and the KSQ Farmers Market to have special collection days to help restock the food cupboards shelves at a time when our neighbors need it the most with the delays in SNAP benefits.”
