Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Happy Pride Month! It’s June, a wonderful month for so many reasons, but also a time when rainbow flags pop up as we celebrate, support, and show solidarity with the LGBTQ community. As a member of that community, I understand how important pride is and how those rainbow flags can make a person like me feel welcome and safe.

Here at Kennett Collaborative, we’re working hard to create programs and events that help Kennett become a more beautiful and welcoming community where all can belong and prosper.

On Monday as I watched the Memorial Day Parade groups and floats gathering at Kennett High School before the parade, I was moved by the diversity of the lineup and of our town. We were there to pay tribute to those who have fought for our country, but I couldn’t help but think that we were also celebrating the people whose freedoms they’ve protected—people of different backgrounds, cultures, traditions, religions, and gender expressions, all living, working, and gathering together in Kennett Square.

This June, I’m proud to be a member of the LGBTQ community, and I’m also proud to be a part of the diverse, welcoming community of Kennett Square. Thank you for making this place safe and inclusive for everyone.

There’s a lot to do this week in Kennett Square, and the weather looks beautiful, so please get out there and enjoy all that this place has to offer. Come meet your friends and neighbors!

Sincerely,
Daniel Embree
