Every Friday afternoon, the Borough Hall parking lot fills with fresh produce, local goods, friendly faces, and plenty of reasons to shop local at the Kennett Square Farmers Market hosted by Kennett Collaborative. During National Farmers Market Week (August 2–8, 2026), we encourage you to visit the Market and support your local food economy. 

This year’s celebration comes with recognition from across the county. The Chester County Commissioners have officially proclaimed August 2–8, 2026, as National Farmers Market Week in Chester County, recognizing the important role farmers markets play in connecting residents with locally grown food, supporting agricultural businesses, and strengthening communities throughout the region.

National Farmers Market Week is celebrated annually during the first full week of August and shines a spotlight on the impact farmers markets have on local food systems, public health, and economic development. Across Chester County, markets provide opportunities for local farms and producers to sell directly to consumers while increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy products, baked goods, flowers, honey, and other locally made products.

At the Kennett Square Farmers Market, shoppers can meet the people who grow and produce their food, learn more about where it comes from, and find some of the freshest seasonal offerings available in Chester County.

From just-picked produce and locally raised meats to baked goods, flowers, honey, specialty foods, and handcrafted items, every purchase supports local farmers and small businesses while helping keep dollars in our local economy.

The market is also more than just a place to shop. It’s a weekly gathering spot where neighbors catch up, families spend time together, and visitors get a taste of what makes Kennett Square such a welcoming community.

As part of this year’s National Farmers Market Week celebration on Friday, August 7, visitors can enjoy a few special activities. Stop by the Market Mailbox and write a note of thanks to your favorite farmer or producer. Kids can take part in a Scavenger Hunt. 

As always, market shoppers can make donations on site to support Kennett Area Community Service (KACS). Plus, members of the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions and share tips for growing healthy plants, flowers, and vegetables.
