Sounds of Summer Concert Series at Anson B. Nixon Park
If you haven’t made it to Anson B. Nixon Park’s Sounds of Summer Concert Series yet this summer, there’s still plenty of time. Every Wednesday evening through August 12, the park comes alive with live music, great food, and neighbors enjoying one of Kennett’s favorite summer traditions.
Bring your family, invite a few friends, and while you’re welcome to spread out a picnic blanket, you’ll notice most concertgoers opt for comfortable lawn chairs – the best way to kick back and enjoy the show. Find a spot under the shade trees, enjoy the music, and spend a relaxing evening overlooking the pond.
These events are FREE and put on by Kennett Area Park Authority (KAPA).
Food and beverage vendors begin serving at 6:00 PM, with live music from 6:30–8:30 PM. Grab dinner from one of the weekly food trucks (be sure to check Anson B. Nixon Park’s social media for the latest vendor lineup), or pack your own picnic to enjoy during the concert. I noticed many attendees brought boxes of pizza, fresh fruit, and kid friendly snacks. There is plenty of room to run and play on the lawn for children while adults can enjoy a draft beer from Braeloch Brewing or sip a glass of wine from Chaddsford Winery.
More than anything, the concerts are a chance to reconnect with the community. It’s one of those evenings where you’ll inevitably run into familiar faces, catch up with neighbors, and enjoy one of Kennett’s most beautiful green spaces.
“Great evening by the pond!” shared Jake Applegate, encouraging others to come out and make the most of their summer.
“The performer was amazing, and the stage is really the perfect backdrop,” added Theo Robison. “I loved seeing so many people enjoying the concert with their dogs. I’ll definitely be back—and I’m bringing my dog next time!”
