Alicia Quinn, owner of Freda Head in Kennett Square, named the boutique in honor of her great-grandmother Freda. “I look just like her — big head and all,” she jokes.
Alicia grew up in Glen Mills and now lives in Media, but she’s always been drawn to neighboring towns like West Chester, Media, and especially Kennett Square. “Kennett is just adorable,” she says. “It always felt like such a girly town — the perfect place to open a boutique.”
Freda Head recently celebrated its two-year anniversary in Kennett Square and was recognized by Best of the Main Line for Women’s Shoes.
Alicia’s professional background is a blend of art, fashion, and fine jewelry. She studied at Parsons School of Design, then earned a gemology certification from GIA (Gemological Institute of America), where she specialized in gemstone identification and valuation. “It was fascinating, but I wanted something more fulfilling,” she says.
At Freda Head, Alicia brings her keen eye for quality and detail. The boutique’s style is “eclectic but timeless,” featuring wardrobe staples with a fashion-forward focus. Shoppers can find popular brands like Free People, ASTR The Label, Pistola Denim, and Billini Shoes, alongside curated pieces from local artisans. Shoppers can find Freckled Feather hats— a Lancaster, PA maker known for its wool and natural cowhide styled hats. Freda Head also offers home décor and glassware, including handmade pottery by local artist Maxine Magnes.
The boutique caters primarily to women ages 27 to 55 — including moms of teens and young children — and has a growing jewelry collection. Beyond fashion, Freda Head doubles as a hub for community and creativity. Through its in-store Event Bar, Alicia hosts two pop-ups each month, offering experiences like color analysis, permanent jewelry, and a Charm Bar. A new baby collection is launching in late summer, inspired by Alicia’s recent journey into motherhood. She and her husband Owen welcomed baby Owen Jr. earlier this year. The couple, who reconnected after high school, would meet up in Boston while Alicia was living in New York and Owen in New Hampshire. The couple then tied the knot in August 2024.
“The community here has been amazing,” Alicia says. “People in Kennett are so willing to support and collaborate. That’s been one of the most rewarding parts.”
With its curated fashion, local partnerships, and ever-evolving lineup of events, Freda Head is quickly becoming a beloved fixture in Kennett Square’s shopping scene.
