Right here in Kennett Square, Wistar Motors is a family business built around a shared love of cars.
Owner Scott Wistar works alongside both of his children, Miles and Bri, buying, selling, servicing and restoring some of the world’s most remarkable cars. And this fall, the Wistar family is once again showing their support for the Kennett community as the Presenting Sponsor of the 2026 Kennett Brewfest.
For Scott, having both of his kids working alongside him makes this latest chapter especially meaningful. But the story of Wistar Motors started decades ago, long before opening the doors in Kennett Square.
A Lifelong Love of Cars
Scott has always been a car enthusiast, and his affection for Italian cars goes way back.
One moment in particular has stuck with him since 1991, when he saw a Lamborghini Diablo in person for the first time.
“It just broke my brain,” Scott remembers.
At the time, owning one seemed completely out of reach. Scott jokes that he couldn’t have afforded the tires. But a dealership in New Jersey let him sit inside, and he remembers thinking, One day, I will own one of these cars.
His first Ferrari came in the late 1990s, when Scott was in his early 30s and he and his wife, Kristen, had two young children. Kristen was working evening appointments as an interior designer, which meant Scott’s Ferrari often had two car seats in it.
He put about 10,000 miles on the car in two years before selling it—and making money on it. The money helped Scott and Kristen build their home in Landenberg in 2004, a move that would allow their children to grow up in the Kennett School District.
But Scott never forgot about that Lamborghini Diablo. More than 20 years after he first saw one, around 2016, a Diablo popped up for sale on eBay. This time, he bought it.
Bri was about 17 when the car arrived. Scott had taught his kids to drive manual transmissions, so while the two were out in the Lamborghini , Bri asked if she could drive. Once behind the wheel, she had another question: “Mind if I mash it?”
Sitting in the passenger seat of the car he had dreamed about since 1991, with his daughter behind the wheel, Scott remembers thinking, “If I die now, I’ve already achieved everything.” Today, Bri still drives the Diablo.
Building a Business—and Bringing the Family Along
Scott describes much of his story as a “wild story of fate.”
Before Wistar Motors, he spent decades in the equipment rental industry, working alongside his father and brother. After his father passed away in 2009, Scott continued building the business. A few years later, almost by accident, the company began importing equipment from Italy.
The business continued to grow and was named to the Inc. 500 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies in 2017. In 2018, a larger company acquired it, marking the culmination of what Scott describes as 35 years of hard work.
His father had a saying that Scott still carries with him: “Better to be lucky than smart.”
But Scott wasn’t finished building businesses—or working with family. Miles was working as a credit analyst at a large corporate bank when he began working more closely with his dad during COVID. Their personalities and skill sets complemented each other.
Scott summed up their partnership as, “I shake the trees, you rake the leaves.” Soon, one of them floated the idea of, “Let’s go into the car business.” That idea became Wistar Motors.

Scott had spent years buying and selling Ferraris of his own, and those years had also introduced him to the people who understood the cars inside and out.
“When you own Ferraris, you get to know your mechanic,” Scott jokes. Today, Wistar Motors has three technicians and can take on everything from service to front-to-back Ferrari and Lamborghini restorations. The team also works with specialists in areas like leather reconditioning to bring collector cars back to life.
And then there’s Bri, who has taken over the accounting and administrative side of the business. After working in corporate banking in Boston, she found herself growing tired of the corporate world and increasingly drawn to what her dad and brother were building back home. Her question was simple: “How can I be part of this?”
Now, both Miles and Bri work alongside their dad at Wistar Motors. Scott has managed to turn a lifelong passion into something he gets to share with both of his children, right here in the community where they grew up.
Wistar Motors has been in its Kennett Square location for about two and a half years, and the family is already planning for its next chapter. A 15,000-square-foot expansion will create additional space for collector-car storage, more lifts and continued growth of the business.
And even after all these years surrounded by incredible cars, there’s always another one on Scott’s list. When I asked him what his dream car actually is, his answer was simple: “It’s a moving target.”…Currently, a Bugatti Veyron is high on the list. I would like to have one of those,” he says.
A Longtime Love of Kennett Brewfest
Cars aren’t Scott’s only passion. He’s also a longtime craft beer fan and even added a four-tap kegerator at Wistar Motors featuring exclusively Braeloch beer.
Scott has been attending Kennett Brewfest for more than 15 years, making it especially meaningful to have Wistar Motors as the Presenting Sponsor of Kennett Brewfest—bringing together his love of craft beer, his family business and the Kennett community.
And Wistar Motors is bringing a little something extra to Brewfest this year! Festivalgoers will be able to check out a Fiat and Lamborghini Diablo on site throughout the day. We’re pretty excited to have a Diablo at Brewfest—and think you’ll want to see this one in person.
